Dr. Abdulazeez Salawu is a Staff Medical Oncologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Internationally recognised for his clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Salawu brings deep expertise in the treatment of sarcoma, gastrointestinal cancers, and peritoneal malignancies. As Clinical Lead and Head of Governance at OncoVerge, Dr. Salawu directs clinical oversight, protocol development, and tumour board leadership. He chairs the OncoVerge Virtual Tumour Board, ensuring all partner hospitals benefit from evidence-based, multidisciplinary decision-making aligned with global best practice. Dr. Salawu’s academic work is rooted in translational oncology and biomarker innovation, particularly in soft tissue sarcomas. His research investigates circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) for tracking molecular residual disease and novel therapies in early-phase trials. He is also the Principal Investigator of the PANORAMA Study, which addresses sociodemographic disparities in clinical research and precision oncology. Trained in the UK and Canada, Dr. Salawu completed his medical oncology residency in Sheffield before a prestigious fellowship in the Toronto Sarcoma Program. His contributions to global oncology have earned him numerous accolades, including the ASCO Young Investigator Award, ASCO Merit Award, and the Novartis Oncology Young Canadian Investigator Award.
